Cardigan Rohana Flowers

Versatile cardigan made from a soft, handprinted cotton fabric with pockets and a removeable belt. Perfect as an elegant jacket, airy dressing gown or as a special summer dress.

This blockprint fabric was made in Bagru, a small suburb of Jaipur in northern India. In the residential quarters giant lengths of patterned fabrics are hanging in the sun to dry on most the flat rooftops. The Chhippa (printer) families, who traditionally dye and print fabrics, live here. To make a blockprint fabric first special iron tools are used to cut delicate patterns into woodblocks. With these blocks lengths of fabric are printed with impressive precision and without any gaps. Our partners from Bagru Textiles work together with many of the inhabitants of this area, who largely conduct their work from their homes. The business attaches a lot of importance to fair wages and invests part of its profits in community health and education programs.
Finally, Rohana is sewn in our workshop in Hyderabad.

Fit: The Cardigan has a straight and loose cut. With the belt it can also be wrapped and worn as a dress.
Material behavior: We do not use any elasthan (plastic) in our fabrics and work with traditionally woven goods, thus the material does not have any elasticity.
