Redefining CLOTHING, One Stitch at a Time

2 countries, 1 team

We have been a team since 2010, with part of us in Germany and part in India. You can get to know us here.

Our own production

We sew each of our pieces with great attention to detail in our three company-owned sewing workshops in South India.

in touch with you

We're connected to our customers via our Berlin office and shop-studio. Here we take care of the perfect cuts, timeless designs and look forward to each and every one of your orders.

We produce what you love

We are in daily contact with our team members in India and at the same time we closely monitor which pieces you particularly like. This means we can adapt our production to your wishes almost minute by minute, avoid overproduction and ensure the optimal use of our valuable materials. Here you can read what else we do to prevent textile waste.

Additional opportunities through interest-free loans

In addition to the basic pillars of fair work that we take for granted, we offer our team members interest-free and partially subsidized loans for education, health and housing through our Jyoti eV. In recent years, houses have been built, land has been bought, medical interventions have been made possible in the family and children have been given the opportunity to attend particularly good schools and universities. Here you can find out more about the work of our association.

Why do we produce in India?

To save CO2

Every step of our production takes place in India. Our pieces travel an average of 8,000 km before they arrive in our store. That's a full 17,000 km less than pieces that are produced conventionally or fairly in Europe, as their raw materials also mostly come from Asia.

To promote handicrafts

India's textile handicrafts include hundreds of techniques with a tradition that goes back thousands of years. With our work, we want to contribute to the continued existence of family-run workshops, as they represent an important source of income for the rural population.

Because we bear responsibility

The change towards fair and sustainable textile production can only succeed if we face up to our (post-colonial) responsibility and do not simply relocate urgently needed jobs back to Europe. Instead, we must change exploitative structures created by Western companies in the interests of human rights and environmental protection.

Because we love it

Perhaps the most important reason: Because we have lost our hearts to this country and its people, we love its colors and atmosphere and nothing inspires us more.

Our partners

We deliberately source our raw materials exclusively from social enterprises, artisans and NGOs. We attach great importance to cooperation on an equal footing. Get to know all of our partners here .

Long-standing friendships: Weaver Kanti

In 2015, we set off for Khuch in western India - an area known for its traditional weaving techniques - with a small piece of fabric in our hands. Our mission: to find out who weaves such incredibly beautiful and soft cotton fabrics. After asking around a lot in the city of Bhuj, we were given the tip to try the weaver Kanti in the nearby village of Sarli. And that's where we found what we were looking for: Kanti recognized the fabric and his own "signature" in it! Since then, we have worked closely with the artisan and his family, can no longer count the number of chai teas we have enjoyed together and are more than proud that also due to our collaboration, he can now offer jobs to 10 other people in his village.

We only use natural materials

Our products are made exclusively from natural materials. This means they are biodegradable and can be easily recycled. We don't use oil-based chemical fibers. Not only does the environment thank us for this, but you will certainly never want to take your Jyoti piece off because nothing feels more comfortable on your skin. You can find out more about our materials here .

Perfect for your body shape

Our clothes should be as unique as our body shapes. We have come up with some great tricks and tips so that you can adapt your Jyoti piece perfectly to your body, even if your figure changes. You can find all the details here .

We avoid waste wherever possible

We design our pieces according to the ZERO-WASTE approach, which means that many of our products do not produce any waste even during cutting

Of course, that doesn't always work. But no problem, we upcycle the little offcuts that arise into great patchwork designs and small accessories like scrunchies or bags.

Even in the best workshops mistakes can happen, and of course they happen to us too. We therefore sell pieces with small defects or accidentally mixed up fabrics via our Jyoti Circular platform instead of throwing them away.
