About Us
JYOTI – FAIR WORKS is a German-Indian fashion label that makes clothing and accessories from natural materials, designed to bring joy to our customers and, above all, to the people involved in making them – from the cotton farm workers to the weavers and the seamstresses. To be able to guarantee this, it's important to us to know the people involved in making our clothing – along the entire value chain.
What we do
We manufacture our clothing in our three own sewing workshops in the South Indian towns of Chittapur, Londa, and Hyderabad, where we now employ more than 20 women and work closely with the local NGOs Jyothi Seva Kendra, Nava Chetana Kendra, and the Access Foundation. Here, socially disadvantaged women receive training as seamstresses, permanent employment, various opportunities for further education, regular health screenings, and a good salary. Throughout the rest of our value chain, we also work exclusively with small family businesses, cooperatives, and social enterprises. Using traditional techniques, they weave and print our fabrics with loving craftsmanship.
What we value
On numerous trips, we have met our partners in person.
This is how we not only ensure high quality and can understand how and under what conditions our pieces are created. Through direct cooperation, without middlemen, we can also ensure that a large part of the money you pay for our products actually reaches the producers. The longevity of our products is also close to our hearts. To ensure they bring you joy for as long as possible, we focus on timeless designs and high-quality workmanship. We plan our cuts in such a way that as little waste as possible is produced. We then recycle the resulting fabric scraps – right down to the smallest remnants.
Why we do this
With Jyoti – Fair Works, we also want to spark a discussion: about the value of our clothing and the work that goes into it. About what a textile industry can look like from which everyone involved benefits. For us, that begins with transparency. That is why we openly show how and where we work – and also talk about where we still face challenges.

We can be an inspiration for other companies and an alternative for customers. And we can enable a large group of women in India to earn a living. And we think that's already quite a lot."

As a fashion label, we want to make sure that all the producers involved can make a good living from their work. We also want to do better when it comes to resources: we choose our materials carefully, produce in small quantities and try to leave as little as possible unused.
